Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Love my Z71 - but poor gas mileage - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Bobchev55 - December 3 - 2:00 amI have long since been a Chevy man. I love my new 04 Silverado Z71 with the 5300 V8 in all respects except for fuel economy. After several years of driving a Ford truck with poor gas mileage, I expected better fuel economy than 13mpg from my brand new Silverado! I get better mileage in my custom 55 Chevrolet with a 4 barrel carb and 3 speed trans - no overdrive!!

Like A Rock - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Happy Trucker - July 23 - 10:00 amI live in the country and dont have repair shops every other block but, since Ive had my Silverado I dont need to visit them anyway. As long as I keep the oil and other fluids clean and at the right levels I keep trucking on.

Good quality Pickup - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Mrbear - July 17 - 10:00 amIt is a great overall pickup.I have driven the Fords, and i personaly think they are cheaper built than all of them, the metal makes me think of a beer can.The dodge is a ok,except the rear seats and legroom are less than the chevys. So i had to buy the Z71 crew cab and love everything about it,and also it gets 21 mpg on the highway!!

Chevy vs Ford & Dodge - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Ghostrider - June 11 - 10:00 amAfter owning 4 ford F-150s and a Dodge, I opted to check the competition, it took alittle arm twisting to break my Ford tradion however it was the smartest move ive made, this truck has relatively no rear bounce yet is tight with its towing package, extremely smooth ride and ample interior room, I am very suprised as to the great mileage on this big V8, lots of leg room and plenty in the extended cab also, Ford still has a cramped cab even in the 04 models, have no problems as to date and all is what was advertised, This new Silverado LS is a smart choice.

CHEY P/U EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By TG Brown - May 30 - 10:00 amALTHOUGH I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE ONE WEEK, i FIND IT IS A PLEASURE TO DRIVE. THE COLOR IS SPORT METALLIC RED. EVERYWHERE I GO I RECEIVE COMPLIMENTS ON THE COLOR, STYLE, LOOKS, ETC. THE RADIO/SOUND SYSTEM IS SUPERB! SO FAR THE TRUCK HAS MET OR EXCEEDED THIS WRITERS EXPECTATIONS, FOR PERFORMANCE, HANDLING, MILAGE, ETC....ALSO THERE IS CONSIDERABLE LEG ROOM FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, BOTH IN THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT AREA. AS A RESULT SEVERAL FRIENDS ARE NOW CONSIDERING OR ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A SIMILAR CHEVY, OR GM PICK-UP TRUCK. THUS I FEEL THE PROOF IS THE PRODUCT---A USA PRODUCED AND MANUFACTURED TRUCK
